I agree that library use is changing and that we need to adapt. I think KDL is doing the adaptation fairly well because we certainly have not seen a 55% decrease in circulation! I think as people become busier with work the library does need to figure out what they need and make themselves a vital part of the people's life.
To a certain extent I think we really need to be "out there" contacting groups, and talking about what the library can do for them. I think the more we contain ourselves to our buildings the more we lessen the "need" for the library by the public. It seems to me community outreach becomes a much larger portion of our job as we try to determine what direction the library should go in.
